I have an unlock for 05.11.07. I will be releasing on 11/04/09, for $0.00

First off, Jody Sanders, I am declining your $10,000. Why? Because you, and the rest of the iPhone unlock sites out there are scum. You make money selling freeware; that's not cool, and I am in no way going to legitimize it.
Seriously, the people who really lose here are the customers. These sites are full of blatant lies, claiming to have unlocks for 05.11.07 People buy them, and are told the unlock is in development, and the release date is unknown. Imagine you bought a cup of coffee and were told it's in development? Recently, many of these sites sent out e-mails saying they made major breakthroughs and the unlock will be ready 11/04/09. Coincidence that that's the release date of blacksn0w?
I'm not going to post all these scam sites here, as I don't want to give them the pagerank boost. Rather I'll give you a whitelist, two people make unlocks, me and the dev team. Every iPhone unlock site you see out there is selling our stuff, repackaged in some form or another. Same goes for jailbreaks, although ih8sn0w and chronicdev are legit. Notice what all the legit ones have in common? They are free.
Now despite rumors of the ferocity of my legal team, they actually are pretty poor lawyers. And the scum who run these websites are the type who get off on legal battles. So we have to fight them in another way, and I'm asking for everyones help on this. Our weapon is information. Get the truth out, that all iPhone unlocks and jailbreaks are free, and if you are buying something, you aren't getting anything a simple google search couldn't get you, and are probably funding someones crack habit.
This is the first time I have tried to make something simple for the end users, and it enrages me to see people selling it. Let's shut all these assholes down, and tell the iPhone owning world all they need is at blackra1n.com, including blacksn0w instructions on it's release date, 11/04/09(yes, will support hacktivation). You do your part, and I'll do mine making things as simple, reliable, and straightforward as possible.

The iPhone 3.1.2 update that Apple released last week required users of jailbroken iPhones or iPod Touches to wait for a new jailbreak software to be released before updating. There was no jailbreak available until Geohot released his new blackra1n 1 click jailbreak software. The blackra1n software is available for both Windows and Mac users, but it only supports iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch. blackra1n does not support the iPod Touch 3rd generation 8 GB models that have a MC in the model number. Many iPhone 3G users reported having a problem with blackra1n on iPhone 3G, if you were one of them please leave a comment telling us what problems you encountered and how you solved them. I will be making a blackra1n troubleshooting guide to help users that have any problem with it. You can jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with blackra1n, but you cannot unlock iPhone 3.1.2. To unlock iPhone 3.1.2, you must use PwnageTool 3.1.4 which the Dev-Team recently released.

If you want to just jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 I recommend you use blackra1n, but if you want to unlock then you have no choice but to use PwnageTool which only works with Mac. If you haven’t already downloaded iPhone 3.1.2 or updated, the download links for it are below.

Note: Do no’t use Safari to download iPhone 3.1.2 IPSW files, instead use another browser. Safari downloads this as a .ZIP and iTunes is not able to recognize the firmware that way.

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with blackra1n

1. Download blackra1n

blackra1n 3.1.2 jailbreak - make it ra1n

2. Click the make it ra1n button.

blackra1n icon - iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak

3. Your iPhone or iPod Touch will reboot once blackra1n is done doing it’s thing and you should see the blackra1n icon on there. If you don’t see the blackra1n icon, go to the last page on your iDevice and you should see it.

iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak - select applications

4. Install your preferred aplication from the blackra1n app. You have the option of choosing Cydia, Icy, or Rock. I don’t recommend you to install them all at once, because that may cause problems. Install them one at a time.

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with PwnageTool

iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak and unlock - Pwnage Tool 3.1.4

1. Download PwnageTool 3.1.4 (only works with Mac!)

PwnageTool for iPhone 3.1.2

2. You will be creating a custom IPSW and then restoring it through iTunes. If you don’t know how to do that, read my jailbreak iPhone 3.1 with PwnageTool post which gives step by step instructions

  1. First Create a Folder named “Pwnage” or whatever you like. Download iPhone 3GS 3.1 Firmware and PwnageTool 3.1.3 into that folder. Also do not forget to download Latest Version of iTunes, if you don’t have it
  2. Connect your iPhone to iTunes. Launch PwangeTool from the folder where you downloaded it.
  3. Now click on the “Expert Mode” and select your device “iPhone 3GS” in this case and click on the Blue Arrow.
  4. In the next step, Pwanage Tool will automatically find the ispw file, if it doesnt then browse for it and select the proper file. It is the file which you have downloaded in the 1st step.
  5. In the next step, there will be a General Setting Screen.
If you are using an Official service provider (i.e. AT&T) you do not need to “Unlock Baseband”, therefore you can Uncheck “Activate the phone” and Check “Enable baseband update”.
If You are using an Unofficial service provider (i.e. T-Mobile) then Uncheck “Enable baseband update” So you can enjoy Ultrasn0w with the 3.1
  6. Next Step is of Cydia settings, Check whatever apps you want and then click on the blue Button.
  7. Now click on the Build button and then on blue arrow to begin the Pwnage process
  8. Now select a location to save your .ipsw file. It will take 10-15 mins to compete Custom iPhone 3GS 3.1 IPSW file. Enter the Admin password when asked.
  9. PwangeTool will ask you “has your iPhone 3G been pwned before?”, if you do not know then click on NO.
  10. Now the most important step. You will need to put your iPhone in DFU mode. Switch off your iPhone. Then press the following keys in sequence. Hold the home button for 5 seconds then hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds after that release the Power button while continuing holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode. If you get it wrong the first time you can try it again. Once your iPhone is in DFU mode a message will be displayed.
  11. Now Launch iTunes to restore your iPhone. In iTunes, hold the Alt/Option key and click Restore. Browse and Select the custom IPSW file you created in the above steps (iPhone2,1_3.1_7C144_Custom_Restore.ipsw) and click on “Open”. The iTunes will now restore the firmware, this can take upto 10 mins and your done.

Your iPhone will restart automatically and your iPhone 3GS OS 3.1 is Jailbreaked.

Apple released their iPhone 3.1 firmware on September 9, and now the iPhone Dev Team has released their Pwnage Tool 3.1 software which can jailbreak iPhone 3.1. There is no Windows Pwnage Tool 3.1, it only works for Mac. If you’re a Windows user then you’ll have to wait for the iPhone Dev Team to release redsn0w. If you’re a Mac user, then follow the steps below to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.

The Pwnage Tool 3.1 software only works on the following devices: iPod Touch 3.1.1 (first generation only), iPhone 3.1 (first generation), and iPhone 3G 3.1. As of right now the iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2nd generation, and the new iPod Touch 3rd generation are not supported.

How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1 with Pwnage Tool 3.1

Pwnage Tool 3.1

1. Download Pwnage Tool 3.1 (Filename: PwnageTool_3.1.dmg Filesize: 23.1 MB).

Pwnage Tool 3.1 message

2. Double-click the Pwnage Tool icon to launch Pwnage Tool. You may get a message that says “PwnageTool is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?“. Just click Open.

Pwnage Tool 3.1 Warning

3. When Pwnage Tool 3.1 launches you will see a message that says “Copyright 2009 iPhoneDevTeam. This software is not for commercial use. If you bought this software demand a refund. It is not for sale. We are not responsible for any damage this software may do to any of your equipment, BE WARNED.” Just read it and click Ok.

Pwnage Tool 3.1 Select Device

4. Click on the device you want to jailbreak. I have an iPod Touch so I’ll click the iPod Touch in Pwnage Tool. After selecting the device click the arrow in the bottom right corner.

5. Pwnage Tool will now attempt to locate the IPSW file for your device. If you don’t have it downloaded already, here are the download links (iPod Touch download links will not be added here because they expire):

Pwnage Tool 3.1 found IPSW file

6. Once Pwnage Tool finds your IPSW click on it. If it doesn’t find it then you can manually browse and locate it. Click the blue arrow in the bottom right corner of the Pwnage Tool application to continue.

Pwnage Tool 3.1 custom IPSW

7. Pwnage Tool will now show a message saying something like “We will now create an ipsw file that you can use to restore your iPod Touch (2G) with iTunes. This file will be placed on your desktop. Do you want to continue?“. Click Yes.

Pwnage Tool 3.1 Password Prompt

8. Pwnage Tool will now start building the IPSW. You will be prompted to enter in your password, just enter in your password and click Ok.

iPod 2G jailbroken before

9. Once your IPSW has been buit, Pwnage Tool will display the following message: “Has your iPod Touch (2G) been Pwned before (does it have the pineapple logo)? If you are unsure click No.“. Just go ahead and click No.

Turn off Pwnage Tool

10. Time to put your device in DFU mode. Pwnage Tool will guide you through the steps.

11. Once you have successfully put your device in DFU mode Pwnage Tool will display the following: “Successfully entered DFU mode! Close the Pwnage Tool application, start iTunes and restore with your custom firmware bundle.” Just click Ok.

12. Now open iTunes (make sure you have iTunes 9!). If you don’t have iTunes 9 then download it and install it now.

13. Once you launch iTunes 9, press option on your keyboard and click Restore in iTunes. Find the IPSW file that is named something like iPod1,1_3.1.1_7C145_Custom_Restore.ipsw. Make sure it has Custom in the name of the file and then click Choose.

iTunes extracting IPSW

14. iTunes will now restore the custom IPSW file to your iPhone or iPod Touch. Once it’s done you’ll see Cydia and Icy on your device! Congratulations, you are done jailbreaking iPhone 3.1 firmware.

You can jailbreak iPhone 3GS 3.1 and iPod Touch 3rd generation, but the jailbreak is not out for it yet. I’ll create a guide on how to jailbreak it once the software for it is released. Stay tuned!

A bsdiff patch to apply to CommCenter in 3.1.2 to re-enable tethering is available here for the 3GS and here for the 3G. It's just a 2-byte patch as shown below (and an appropriate readjusting of the mach-o's codesign hash):

USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! Your carrier may end up charging you for unauthorized tethering access.

Update #1 It looks like a lot of people have been looking at CommCenter lately because IRC user CleanAir had a similar tethering patch. Meanwhile over in the 2G CommCenter, WhiteRat and geniusan have patched in native MMS support for that platform. Kudos to CleanAir, WhiteRat, and geniusan for digging into CommCenter and coming up with patches!

Update #2 A few tutorials have started to pop up. Eventually this will be made a part of the normal PwnageTool flow but for now this is best left for the adventurous users out there!

Unlock iPhone 3.1

Posted by DjRaz55 Wednesday, September 9, 2009 0 comments

To software unlock iPhone 3.1, you must create a custom firmware that uses the current baseband. The iPhone 3.1 update updates the baseband to a newer one that permanently blocks the software unlock. A guide on how to unlock iPhone 3.1 this will be up later.

1. You must update to iPhone 3.1 first. After updating, either locate your iPhone 3.1 IPSW file or download it using any of the links below. Remember, don’t use Safari to download. Safari can’t download .IPSW files properly, use a different Broswer
iPhone 3.1 download (iPhone1,1_3.1_7C144_Restore.ipsw, 241 MB)
iPhone 3G 3.1 download (iPhone1,2_3.1_7C144_Restore.ipsw, 242 MB)
iPhone 3GS 3.1 download (iPhone2,1_3.1_7C144_Restore.ipsw, 306 MB)
2. Download redsn0w (not up yet, stay tuned!).
3. Follow the jailbreaking guide at the Jailbreak iPhone 3.1 post (not up yet).

iPhone 3.1 firmware

Posted by DjRaz55 0 comments

Today the iPhone 3.1 update was released to the public. This update fixes a lot of bugs that were present in the iPhone OS 3.0 firmware. If you want to jailbreak or unlock your device, follow the steps below. If you have an unlocked iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS do not update just yet, updating will permanently lock your device and the ultrasn0w unlocking software won’t work.

DEV-Team released iPhone 3GS Jailbreak 0.8

Posted by DjRaz55 Wednesday, July 8, 2009 0 comments

Can you believe it, it’s been almost a year since the Apple’s App Store was officially released to public! Apple’s iPhone App Store was officially launched on July 11, 2008. Many users got to see it before the launch date due to a leaked copy of the iPhone OS 2.0 firmware.

To celebrate the App Store’s first birthday, Apple has created a page in iTunes listing it’s favorite apps and favorite games. You can see the full list here (iTunes link).

The App Store has received over 1 billion downloads in just 9 months and currently has over 56,000 apps! It’s safe to say that the Apple’s App Store is currently the biggest mobile App Store.

UltrasnOw now works with 3GS Phones. You first need to Jailbreak your 3GS iPhone

The main 3GS ultrasn0w glitch on hacktivated devices is: need to do Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network settings once

This has been tested by me and worked on the first try..

Head on over to Geohot’s I Make it Ra1n post for the jailbreak download and details. I haven’t been able to test this yet, but have heard good results from comments and tweets. I’ll be posting a full guide with details once I get the chance to jailbreak an iPhone 3GS with this.
Note: The purplera1n jailbreak software is in beta, and Winterboard does not work with it. As of right now you can only jailbreak using Windows (it won’t work with Windows 7). You may want to wait until the Dev Team at http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ releases their jailbreaking software.

To get started right now, go to purplera1n.com. Download it. Make sure you have windows(but not 7), the latest iTunes installed, and an iPhone 3GS with 3.0 firmware. Connect your iPhone normally. Click "make it ra1n". Wait. On bootup, run Freeze, the purplera1n installer app. Hopefully you'll figure out what to do from there. Best tutorial gets linked to from purplera1n site. This tool is beta. Make sure to have everything backed up before running. Also if Cydia doesn't show up after running Freeze, reboot.

New features discovered in iPhone OS 3.1 beta

Posted by DjRaz55 Tuesday, June 30, 2009 0 comments

Here are some new features that have been discovered in iPhone OS 3.1 beta so far:

The baseband has been updated to 5.08.01 - ultrasn0w users should not use the iPhone OS 3.1 beta, otherwise their iPhones could be permanently locked!

iPhone 3GS - When you’re trimming your videos you now have the option of saving the original video by tapping the “Save as copy” button.

Voice Control is finally working over bluetooth now!

When you move your icons around the iPhone vibrates

MMS is enabled by default but does not work for AT&T users

The AT&T profile is updated to 4.2

Improvements to OpenGL and Quartz

There’s now a VideoEditorController API - Allows third party apps to call up video editing UI

Video picker API

I’ll update this post as more features are discovered!

Apple recently released the new iPhone OS 3.1 beta firmware and SDK to developers. If you’re using the ultrasn0w software unlock, DO NOT UPGRADE to iPhone OS 3.1 beta because you may permanently lose your unlock. Apple has updated the baseband to 05.08.01. Remember, even when the final iPhone 3.1 firmware is released you should not update if you want to keep your ultrasn0w unlock. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

redsn0w is an easy to use, multi-platform, multi-device jailbreaking and unlocking (iPhone 2G only) tool for the iPhone 2G (original iPhone), the iPhone 3G (but not the 3GS) and also the iPod touch (first and second generation). Currently it is available for Windows and Mac OS X (there are some issues using redsn0w with OS X PPC, please use an Intel Mac until we have this problem resolved).

REDSN0W PROVIDES SIMILAR FUNCTIONALITY TO QUICKPWN.

If you want to build custom firmware files with more flexibility it is suggested that you use ‘PwnageTool’ on Mac OS X.

1.GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should NOT use redsn0w right now. Ultrasn0w (the 3G carrier unlock) is not included with this release and therefore your baseband will be locked and unable to use an operator other than the official one it was bought for. UltraSn0w will be released via APT (cydia and icy) soon. If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.0 carrier unlock works with this redsn0w release.
2.Yellowsn0w in its current form will NOT work with the baseband version that is present in the 3.0 update, you will need Ultrasn0w, which will be released sometime soon, Ultrasn0w will work with all iPhone 3G models (but not 3GS), even ones that were previously unlockable, Ultrasn0w (when available) will be released via APT (this means you will be able to get it via Cydia or Icy).
3.Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
4.Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.
5.At the bottom of this post are the bittorrent files for the latest version of redsn0w.
6.This app is suitable for the recent 3.0 release
7.redsn0w will NOT work for the iPhone 3GS.
8.redsn0w WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch, iPod touch 2G and the iPhone 3G (not the iPhone 3GS).
To use redsn0w simply upgrade the device in iTunes to firmware version 3.0 and run redsn0w to activate and jailbreak the device (and if you are using an original iPhone 2G, it will unlock it too!)

MMS & Tethering iPhone 3.0 3g & 3gS Instructions

Posted by DjRaz55 Saturday, June 20, 2009 0 comments

First, let's enable IPCC updates on iTunes 8.2.

Mac OS X:
Close iTunes if it is open
Start Terminal (Applications > Utilities)
Run the following command: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE

Windows 2000/XP/Vista (32-bit):
Go to Start -> Run (
type in "command" and hit enter
Type/copy+paste this into the command console that comes up: "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1
Hit enter

Windows XP/Vista (64-bit):
Go to Start -> Run (
type in "command" and hit enter
Type/copy+paste this into the command console that comes up: "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1
Hit enter

There, now you can update IPCC files as you were able to in 8.1. Now, let's go get us some Carrier Bundle goodness. You can download the modified bundle right here. To install this, follow these steps.

1 Download the file to some location on your computer
2 Plug in your iPhone
3 Start iTunes
4 Click on your iPhone in the device listing in iTunes
5 Alt-Click the "Update" button (Shift-click in Windows)
6 Browse to where you saved the IPCC you downloaded
7 Select this file and click Choose
8 Wait...
9 ???
10 PROFIT!!! er, Success!
11 Reboot Phone

You now have the modified carrier bundle. With this, you can do tethering! But wait, we wanted MMS too! Well, this will unfortunately require you to have some other form of GSM (or better, AT&T) phone. I used a cheap prepaid phone from AT&T's GoPhone system (a Motorola BT60). I'm sure you can borrow one from a friend.

NOTE: AT&T Family Plan users who have a family messaging plan can skip steps 7-11

UPDATE: Seems AT&T may be blocking these steps from immediately taking effect. My best advice is to call AT&T after step 10/11 and before step 12 and tell them your MMS isn't working. They should fix it.

1 Remove the sim cards from both the iPhone and your non-Apple phone
2 Place the iPhone sim card into the non-Apple phone
3 Power on the new phone
4 Make a phone call or two (your voicemail works)
5 Log in to your myWireless account at wireless.att.com
6 It should now say that your device is whatever you put your SIM into. If it doesn't, repeat step 4 a few times.
7 Go to the "Features" tab
8 Select a "Messaging Plan", one that isn't an iPhone plan.
9 Click next and go through all the legal crap
10 You should now have MMS enabled on your account... so...
11 DO NOT ADD AN IPHONE TEXTING PLAN BACK TO YOUR ACCOUNT! EVER! IT WILL DISABLE MMS AGAIN!
12 Swap the iPhone sim card back into the iPhone
13 Reboot the iPhone

You should now have MMS and Tethering working! Tethering is easy on the Mac, simply go into Settings -> General -> Network on the iPhone and turn Tethering on, then plug your phone into your Mac via the normal iPhone cable. Your Mac will see your iPhone as a USB networking device and auto-tether you. There's also an easy step-by-step process to get Bluetooth tethering working, but in my experience it is much slower than over USB.

That's pretty much it, folks. Have fun!
