What you're looking at is the harmonious coexistence of hacks and Apple's virgin iOS 5 beta release running on a 4th generation iPod touch. In other words, MuscleNerd and Co are letting us know that iOS 5 presents few surprises so far when its comes to closing the existing holes exploited by the tethered limera1n jailbreak.
Update: It's worth mentioning that limera1n is a bootrom exploit that Apple can't patch on the iPod touch through firmware alone. The real test of the Dev Team's wits will be an untethered jailbreak for the iPad 2.

The well-known iPhone hacker George Hotz aka Geohot has finally released the limera1n jailbreak for iPhone 3GS 4.1/4.0/4.0.2/4.0, iPhone 4 4.1/4.0/4.0.2/4.0, iPod touch 3G 4.1/4.0/4.0.2/4.0, iPod touch 4G 4.1/4.0/4.0.2/4.0, and iPad 3.2.2 hardware. Currently limera1n only works on windows and mac.

jailbreak iOS4 hardware, yes you can do it as we have already seen jailbreaks for the beta releases of 4.0. Right now no jailbreak is out yet for the iPhone or iPod touch on iOS4 The only software we know of so far that may be able to jailbreak iOS4 with Limera1n. Which is not even out yet. Limera1n is purportedly a 1-click easy to use jailbreaking program. If you want to jailbreak iOS4, you will need to wait a little while.
